Week 27

Dear parents and students,
The weather is certainly warming up, and we were very lucky to have such a beautiful day for Race Day. Thank you to all of the parents who showed up to support your children. It is always a thrill for the kids to have the parents involved, and everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon immensely.
In the classroom, we have continued our journey with Alice In Wonderland. The insightful ideas and inferences that have been emerging continue to impress, and I believe that we are all taking the next step in reading comprehension, as we are regularly comparing two or more valid interpretations of what is happening in the story, and what each event, description or dialogue might represent.
Yet another Math topic has been completed, with our Topic 15 test taking place today. Next week we will begin Topic 16, dedicated to Measurement, Time, and Temperature.
Much of our Social Studies time has been dedicated to preparing our presentations, which are to take place next Monday and Tuesday, as part of International Week. All parents and friends are invited and encouraged to visit us and enjoy the presentations as the different grades each represent a country from around the world.
Spirit Week drew to a close today with the monthly assembly. Along with our Students of the Week, we took a moment to appreciate some other special achievements by our classmates.
Over the past two weekends, some of our HIS soccer stars have been making a big impression. Shin and Taichi, along with Yuka (Grade 3), in the Under 11 team, and Shota and Yotaro (both Grade 6) in the Under 13 team, won 1st place in the Central Taiwan League competition: Conti CUP, 104年全国Conti少年杯足球, held on March 7, 8, 14 and 15 at Taichung.
They each scored at least one goal to help lead their respective teams to victory. They will now be playing in the Taiwan championship match on May 2 and 3 at Taipei. Pictures of the team and trophy are below.
Edison has also done us proud by taking first place in a golf tournament.
Well done everyone!

Photos of Spirit Week have also been included below.
Spring break follows International week, from Thursday, 26th March – Sunday, 4th April.
