Dear parents and students,
Everyone has been getting excited
in anticipation of Halloween. We have been busy with our preparations, but we
have also been getting some schoolwork done.
We finished reading Danny, the Champion of the World this
week. This has been a read aloud project we have been working on over the past
few weeks. As everyone has listened to me read, students have been taking
notes, drawing pictures, and putting together an assortment of notes and graphics,
which have accumulated to create a wall-sized book report. This large-scale
model will come in very useful when we begin to write our individual book
reports ahead of Literacy Week.
In Math, we are coming to the end
of Topic 6, and the test will be held on Wednesday. We will take a break from
standard numeration afterwards and use topic 7 to investigate algebra.
We have been busy planning our
first Science presentation for this year. Over the weekend everyone will be
busy organizing our Food Web presentations. Parents, I hoipe that you are able
to assist with the preparations, and discuss your child’s chosen food web and
ecosystem. Not only will you be offering great support, but you might learn
something too!
We used our Art class this week
to design and build our Spooky Fairground
Attractions for Halloween. Everyone has some great ideas, and I’m very
excited to see how all of the challenges turn out. I’m sure that the other
grades are going to love what Grade 4 provide for them. Thank you to all of the
parents who have already been helping and supporting your children with their creations.
As much of the work needs to be done at home, your participation is greatly
appreciated. I hope that many of you will be able to take time from your
schedules to visit us on Thursday. We have the peformances beginning at 9am,
and the other activities, including Grade 4’s Spooky Fairground Attractions,
will take place after recess.
I hope to see you all then.
Have a wonderful weekend!
