Dear parents and students,
We have returned to a “normal”
week, once again, and what a busy week it has been! We began the week with our
usual spelling test, followed by a skills test on Tuesday, and a Math test on
Wednesday. The Science test, as expected, has been postponed until Monday.
After the (pleasant) interruption
of Awareness Week and 10/10 Day, we have returned to our usual schedule. In
Reading, we are working on a wall-sized book report for Danny, the Champion of the World, as we read the book together and
discuss all of the different components that make Roald Dahl’s books so
enjoyable.
In Science, we have just
completed the first chapter of Unit B, dedicated to ecosystems. We will have a
test on Monday, before turning our attention to food webs and species survival.
In Maths, we are covering some
familiar territory in multiplication, but we are also extending our knowledge
and preparing for the more challenging topics to come in the weeks ahead.
On Thursday, we had an
earthquake drill. After successfully completing the drill, and discussing
earthquake safety before and afterwards, I am confident that we all know the
best thing to do in the case of a major earthquake. I have posted some photos
of the drill below.
Next week will be another regular
week, with the monthly assembly held on the Friday. As usual, all parents are
welcome to attend. The following week will be another shorter week, with Friday
and the following Monday being school holidays. Thursday, 30th
October will be our dress-up day in celebration of Halloween. Grade 4 will be
preparing a spooky challenge quest for the other grades. Parents, please ask your
child about our special challenges. We have most of them planned, but still
need a few good ideas. Maybe you could help! Of course, all parents are welcome
and encouraged to attend the Halloween activities. These dates and other dates
to remember have been listed below. I hope to see you on the 30th!
