Dear parents and students,
I hope you all enjoyed the three-day break last
weekend. It has been a short, but busy
week in Grade 4, and I think we will appreciate this weekend every bit as much
as the last.
We completed another topic in Maths, and had our Topic
19 test on Wednesday. We have now begun Topic 18, a short but crucial topic
focusing on algebraic equations. We will complete this topic next week,
dedicating Thursday’s lesson to review, before a Topic Test on Friday.
We also had a test for Social Studies, in which we
tested what we have learned about transport and the USA’s contribution to the
onset of the Industrial Revolution. We will now be focusing again on Science.
Next week we will be investigating electricity and how to complete an electrical
circuit.
We read three separate stories this week, all
describing various kinds of heroes. We had some insightful discussions about
what makes a hero, and compared the many different traits and actions of the
heroes discussed.
We have begun the initial planning stages of our
Persuasive Essays, and we will continue working on these throughout next week.
All students should have a clear goal and at least three reasons to achieve
your goal by Monday. Please discuss your topic with your family. You may discover
some more reasons, facts, or details, which will help to strengthen your
argument.
Next week,
we have three events to which parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. On Tuesday, we have our Art Exhibition, which
will be held in the library. The art will be on display all day for you to
enjoy. If you can’t make it on Tuesday, the art will be moved to the space
outside the library for the remainder of the week.
On Thursday, we have our Performing Arts
Afternoon. Tis will begin at 1:10 pm in
the auditorium. Click here for the Performing Arts Afternoon Program
Finally, on Friday, we have our weekly assembly.
As always, parents are welcome to attend.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend, and I’ll see you on Monday!
