Dear parents and students,
We have made it through the Iowa tests, much to
everyone’s relief! With so many tests,
we have kept the regular lessons to as light a load as possible, but we have
still managed to attend to much of the regular curriculum.
In Maths, we have been reviewing relationships
between shapes, such as translations, reflections, rotations, and lines of
symmetry. We will have a topic test next Wednesday, and then return to Topic
18, which focuses on algebra and numeration.
We took a break from our Reading Circles this
week, and spent most of our Reading and Writing Workshops focusing on
Capitalisation and Punctuation. We will continue these grammar review lessons
next week, and return to our Reading Circles, in which we will be discussing heroes,
who are heroes, and what makes them heroes.
We finished another chapter in Social Studies this
week. Next Tuesday, we will have a chapter test to gauge what we have learned
about the American Midwest. We will then take a break from Social Studies for a
little while, and turn our attention to Physical Science, beginning with an
investigation of electricity.
Tomorrow
marks the beginning of the mid-semester break for HIS. I hope you all enjoy the
three-day weekend. If you are going away, please travel safely, and I will see
you all back at school on Tuesday.
Dates to Remember:
·
Mon, May 18th – Mid Semester Break – no school
·
Tue, May 26th – Art Exhibition
