Dear parents and students,
This week has had a very sweet edge to it, as we
raised money for water.org through our bake sale. The bake sale was very
successful, and we have exceeded our goals for the fundraiser. Well done to
everyone involved, with particular thanks to Mrs. Dimitrov and Mrs. Takahara,
who baked delicious goodies for us every day. Thank you for your time and
generosity.
This week was also notable for the Science Fair.
Thank you to all of the parents who were able to make it. I’m sure you were all
impressed by the high standards that have been set. Thank you also for supporting your children
throughout the preparations for the Science Fair, and making time to help them
out and lend a hand.
In Maths, we have begun a new topic, dedicated to
data and graphs. We will be introduced to some new concepts, which makes a nice
change to the last few topics, which were mostly review. You can click on this link for an introduction to data and graphs if
you feel you need a little extra help.
We took a short break in our Reading Circles this
week, but we will be back into the regular routine next week, beginning with
pre-reading Sing to the Stars for
homework this weekend. The Reading Circles have been going well, with everyone
getting involved in finding deeper meaning in the stories we read. We finally
finished our Wordle project this week, in which we each found three adjectives
to describe each other student in the class. The results are on display below.
Next week, we will hold a bazaar on Wednesday
afternoon. A large component of the bazaar will be selling things donated by
HIS students. If you have anything you care to donate, please bring it to
school on Monday or Tuesday. All parents
and family are invited to visit the bazaar, which will begin just after 1:00pm
on Wednesday.
