Week 18

 Dear parents and students,
I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas break. It is good to see everyone back at school, rested and ready for learning.
We began this week with our latest Reading and Writing Workshop project. Ahead of Literacy Week, we are creating Book Promotions, which will be displayed in the library during Literacy Week. We have already made good progress, so expectations are high for some impressive promotions!
In Maths, we have begun Topic 10, which is all to do with fractions. It seems that everyone has a clear understanding of the material so far, which is very encouraging, as this is an area in which children often have problems. We will continue our studies of fractions next week, with a test to be held next Friday.
In Science, we have been studying fossils, how they are made, and how they can be useful. We also created our own fossils using molding clay. We will be finishing this unit on Monday, and beginning a new unit dedicated to Earth Science, beginning with a study of the rock cycle.
It has been a busy week, but it looks as though we might have some nice weather for the weekend. Enjoy your rest, and see you all ion Monday!
