Week 15

Dear parents and students,
The weather is finally cooling down, and there is a festive spirit growing in the school. As I am sure you are all very aware, we have our Christmas concert next Friday. A notice was sent home today with details regarding the night. Please read it, and if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me via email, or call at the office.
In the classroom, we have finished our epic topic on division, with a test held today. there were a few nerves regarding the test, but I think that most of us will be pleased with the results. Next week, we will be beginning Topic 9, which is dedicated to geometry. A protractor will be required for this topic. If you don't already have a protractor, please try to obtain one before Wednesday (see picture).

Compass and Protractor

We finally finished our narrative stories this week. While there are some very entertaining stories among the submissions, others of us have learned that our writing can be greatly improved if we are to follow directions in proofreading. The complete anthology of Grade 4 Narratives will soon be available for your perusal on this blog.
In Social Studies, we have been learning about early transport and natural resources in the American Northeast. Next week, we will be learning about the Industrial Revolution and how it has changed the lives of almost everyone around the world. We will also be discussing multiculturalism, and how it has grown, particularly in the Western Hemisphere.
When we have had time, we have been busily preparing for the Christmas Concert. As was mentioned in last week's blog, we need to coordinate our costumes. It has been decided that elves should wear red and green. I hope that everyone is able to find something suitable. Please bring your costumes to school as soon as you have obtained them. We will wear them during the dress rehearsal on Thursday, then leave them at school. We will all be able to change into our costumes upon arriving at school on Friday night.
We will also need some props for the show. Each elf should have a toy or a tool that he or she will be working with in the workshop. If each of us brings one of each, we will have plenty of props for the show. Please contact me of you have any questions or concerns regarding the costumes or props.
Have a good weekend, and I look forward to seeing all parents next Friday.
